Willy Wonka meets Needful Things in Kickshaw Candies where there is a secret behind every character you meet. Leave the mint on the pillow or you may awaken to find it isn't your reflection in the mirror.

The idea for Kickshaw Candies came from a short story and the wish for something different in fantasy than the usual damsel in distress with fire breathing dragons. Finnell takes the ideas behind Irish folklore and puts her own twist on them. Along with the familiar creatures of Irish myth, Finnell includes new, never seen before fantasy characters such as The Bringer, and a character that can only appear by the death of his younger brothers.

Between life and death are the Death Bringers. Neither demon nor angel their existence is only to lead humans to their death. They whisper in the ear, guide the hand of the murderer. It is by them that death comes. For every man, woman, child and animal there is a Death Bringer. Unknown to humans, reviled by the creatures of the Under.

We are the ones who guide the hand in murder, suicide and all matters of death.

In search of the Death Bringers, Fáelán discovers a truth within himself that could evoke the end of humanity. Now he must either embrace what he is, or bring Death to its knees.

Left behind by those he is forbidden to follow, Fáelán is compelled to find his own kind in the sequel to Kickshaw Candies.
